Employee Assistance Program

Overview 

Optum administers the Employee Assistance Program, including Work/Life Programs, for all active employees.*

Get personal, confidential assessment and counseling, EAP assists employees and their families coping with a wide variety of concerns, such as stress, marital and family conflicts, substance use disorder and depression. Any employee or household member can call EAP for help and you do not need to be enrolled in a GE medical plan option to access this service!

 

*EAP is not available for retirees

Why seek help through EAP?
 
  • Each year one in five employees will face a significant problem that will disrupt their personal and work life
  • EAP is a free, confidential resource for guidance in resolving problems
  • It does not have to be a crisis to access EAP. Early recognition and intervention can increase the likelihood for a successful outcome
  • With EAP guidance, work/life balance can be restored in a timely manner and improved coping skills are developed on the personal/emotional level 
Through the EAP, you may be eligible for certain services, including short-term behavioral health or substance use treatment, at no cost to you. If you need additional treatment, your EAP counselor will refer you to an in-network provider.

Actions

  • Contact Health Coach from GE 24/7 at 1-866-272-6007 and say "EAP" when prompted for a referral to an in-network provider and/or for necessary approvals.
  • Visit Live and Work Well (access code: "GE") for additional resources including finding a provider, self-help, expert articles, work-life resources, and/or confidentially connect to expert guidance regarding conditions and situations that concern you.
  • Download the Optum Assist app from your device's store.
